KARACHI: The Indian media lambasted Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for accepting Pakistan’s demands to resolve Champions Trophy matter.
On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that “fusion formula”, proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be enforced for upcoming mega events in India and Pakistan during next three years.
As proposed by PCB, the “fusion formula” will see both Pakistan and India playing their ICC event matches, hosted by each other, at a neutral venue.
Moreover, ICC, in its press release, also discussed PCB-proposed tri-series involving India and Pakistan.
The two major developments sparked controversy in India. Several Indian media outlets highly criticised BCCI and also questioned the role of ICC in the matter.
“Who is ICC to say they have no objection on a tri-nation series? These decisions lie with the cricket boards, not the ICC,” Indian media argued.
The media also claimed that BCCI has undermined the stance of Indian government.
“Has the Indian government changed its position? If not, why has the BCCI failed to uphold it?” media outlets questioned.
“The PCB’s demands were accepted and they walked away with significant gains,” reiterated the outlets.
